CountUsDown (countusdown.com) is operated by Nichesmith (“we”, “us”). This page explains what information the site handles, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- The countdowns you make. A countdown's name, message, date, theme and ending are stored in its link. Timers, and date countdowns set to “Hold until I start”, are also stored on our server so everyone with the link sees the same start. For those we store the name, message, theme, ending, time, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of the host's key. We never ask for your name, email address or an account.
- Information saved in your browser. Your recent countdowns, your unfinished draft, your language choice and your host keys are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device unless you share a link, and you can delete them by clearing this site's data in your browser.
- Technical information. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver pages and protect the service, and tells our page which country you are in so we can choose a language for you. We do not store your IP address.
- Fonts. Our typeface is delivered by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font downloads.
Advertising and cookies
We show ads to keep CountUsDown free. Ads never appear during a countdown's final minute or at zero.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's My Ad Center. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Your choices
- Europe, the UK and Switzerland. Before any personalized ads are shown, you are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent tool. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy settings link on the page.
- US states with privacy laws, including California. You can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising through the “Do not sell or share my personal information” link on the page.
- Your countdowns. To ask about, correct or delete a countdown you created, email us with its link.
Tips
If you choose to leave a tip, the payment is handled by Stripe on its own secure page. We never see or store your card details; Stripe shares with us only what is needed to record the payment, such as the amount and the email you give it. Stripe's privacy policy applies to that payment.
Feedback
If you send feedback, we keep your message, the email address you choose to give (if any), the page and language you were using, your country and your browser type, so we can understand and answer it. Feedback is deleted after two years.
How long we keep information
Countdowns stored on our server are deleted automatically 180 days after they end. Date countdowns that live only in their link are not stored by us at all.
Children
CountUsDown is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
When our practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top.
